Moldovan president tells NATO over half a million Moldovans held hostage in separatist Transnistria
In his speech at NATO's 2008 Bucharest summit on Thursday, the President of Moldova Vladimir Voronin asked for international support in solving the Transnistrian conflict and in overcoming polemics with regard to Moldova's national identity and present borders.

UK sex offenders to be banned from some websites
On Friday, Home Secretary Jacqui Smith outlined a proposal that could ban registered sex offenders in the United Kingdom from websites such as Facebook, Bebo and MySpace. Details are to be worked out by the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre.

US bomber aircraft catches fire after landing at airbase in Qatar
A United States Air Force B-1 Lancer bomber aircraft caught fire after landing at an air base west of Doha, Qatar. The incident happened at Al Udeid Air Base at 1820 UTC on Friday. According to the Air Force, the the fire has been contained and the flight crew safely evacuated from the aircraft.
