Quakers Front page - Quaker's workspace - How to write an article
Friday, July 22, 2005
Around 300 young Quakers have gathered in Lancaster, UK for the World Gathering of Young Friends, which started on 16 August.
Rob Buchanan, who met participants at Heathrow, wrote on The Friend website: 'One of the highlights has been hosting Eric Lijodi from Kenya. Eric had been travelling for about 4 days, and was very tired. We took breakfast together, and Eric said grace. This was a new experience for me, and we compared what saying grace meant for both of us.
"There's a friendly recognition between people, getting to know each other's different ways of worship and culture. It was great for me to meet Eric... This week will be a great chance to share our experiences."
The gathering has bought together Quakers under 30 from most countries with an organised yearly meeting and will include worship, workshops and speakers. The theme is 'I am the vine and you are the branches. Now what fruits shall we bear?' based on a biblical quote.
