These are my beliefs on a number of important issues.
I am pro-choice, abortion should be avoided as much as possible in my view, however it is a woman's right to make decisions about her own body.
I believe strongly in the theory of evolution .
I am an atheist, and I believe strongly in Buddhist principles
I believe the lack of education is one of the greatest challenges facing the third world - particularly the high level of illiteracy in many countries. I strongly believe that the world needs do more to combat poverty in all parts of the world.
I believe largely in a free market economy with some government intervention at the corporate level - that is a capitalist economy with more government regulation of large business deals.
I passionately believe that top quality education and health services are a basic right of all citizens - not just those with health insurance.
I am strongly against the privatization of education, social security, and other public services.
I believe that homosexual marriage is a right and should be allowed with no questions asked, and that the government has no right to deprive that right.
I am a pacifist and disagree with the current war and occupation in Iraq.
I'm against the death penalty.
I believe that the United States should be far more accepting of people from other countries, especially from Mexico. It would be great to see the U.S. negotiate with the Mexican government for the U.S. to take in more Mexican citizens in exchange for the Mexican government to improve conditions for citizens there.
I believe that this technology can bring about great advancements in health, and does not interfere with the ethics of life.
I believe that recreational marijuana use should be permitted in the United States. The addictive effects of marijuana are far less than those in tobacco cigarettes, and marijuana has medicinal purposes while tobacco does not. The reason why marijuana was outlawed was because of William Randolph Hearst publishing misleading articles when the foreseen advantages of cannabis threatened his investment in the lumber industry.
