RESDIDENT of St. Clair in Sydney's Western Suburbs, Ryan Gentle, has taken out the prestigous NSW Kareoke Championship in Bathurst after an inspiring performance last night at the town's 'Park Hotel'.
Gentle, 18, a policing student of Charles Sturt University at Bathurst, was surprised in the result after receiving a 'wild-card' entry into the competition after winning at his first attempt.
"I am still tripping balls over the result," said an excited Gentle today.
"It was my first time doing it and I was so worried singing against so many good singers, that I nearly cried up there," he said.
Gentle sang the Hoodoo Guru's cover version of the song "Stomp The Tumbarumba", and scored a combined total of 88 out of a possible 100 in the competition.
Today Mr Gentle confirmed he had already received offers of record contracts after his performance.
"Yeah it's looking good, hopefully I can strike a deal to maybe get a singing career going?"
"I laugh when I win this and only 8 years ago people thought I sounded like my mum Amanda on the phone!"
