PRIDE Critical Countdown 2005 results

Japan's Saitama Super Arena played host to a soldout crowd of 45,102 mixed martial arts fans, eager to see the second portion of the PRIDE Fighting Championship Middleweight Grand Prix on June 26th. Fans in the west had to wait until the Pay Per View aired on July 1st, but most agree that it was well worth the wait.

The main events featured the remaning eight contenders from April 23rds 'Total Elimination 2005', held at the Osaka Dome.

Main Events

Wanderlei Silva defeated Kazuhiro Nakamura by TKO 5:24 into round one.

Mauricio Rua won by unaminous decision after 3 scheduled rounds of action.

Ricardo Arona won by TKO due to injury at the end of round two.

Alistair Overeem defeated Igor Vovchanchyn by submission 1:20 into round one, making this the shortest fight of the evening.

Non GP Events

Sergei Kharitonov defeated Pedro Rizzo by TKO 2:02 into round one.

Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic defeated Ibragim Magomedov by TKO 3:53 into round one.

Kiyoshi Tamura won by unaminous decision after 3 scheduled rounds of action.

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira defeated Pawel Nastula by TKO 8:38 into round one.

Wanderlei Silva, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, Ricardo Arona, and Alistair Overeem will advance to the championship round of PRIDE's 2005 tournament, Final Conflict.
